Emma Stevens & Blair Dunlop Chapel Sessions 15/4

We are pleased to announce the return of Guildford based singer songwriter Emma Stevens in a joint headline tour with Blair Dunlop to Chapel Sessions, Royal Victoria country Park Netley Southampton SO31 5DQ on Wed 15th April. Two exciting British songwriters have announced a co-headline tour for spring 2015. As young, up-and-coming musicians, both Blair Dunlop and Emma Stevens cut their chops on the live circuit – Blair on the folk scene and Emma on the singer-songwriter
circuit. Now with two albums apiece, and several solo headline tours under their belts, the two acclaimed musicians are joining forces. Tickets available soon on Hantswebshop https://www.hants.gov.uk/shop/home.php £12 in advance unreserved seating. Or contact 07702980677

Blair Dunlop, the award-winning British singer, songwriter and guitarist, released two EPs in his teens and became a regular at folk festivals in both Britain and abroad. His debut album ‘Blight & Blossom’ established him as an artist with a promising career ahead and led to him receiving both critical acclaim and the Horizon Award at the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. His follow up album, 2014’s ‘House of Jacks’, lived up to that promise and cemented his place as one of Britain’s most exciting talents to come from the folk scene. The Guardian stated that the album proves Blair
is ‘an increasingly adventurous songwriter’, Uncut reviewed it as ‘thoughtful and exploratory’, The Independent on Sunday described it as ‘fluent, lamentory and accomplished’ and Q Magazine simply wrote that House of Jacks is ‘an exciting glimpse of where traditional folk might go’.
Joined on stage by his band, Blair will be performing a selection of timeless, original songs from both albums including the forthcoming single ‘Fifty Shades of Blue’. “It’s such an exciting time for me with the release of the new single and this tour. I love what Emma does and think the idea of touring together, although we are from different schools, will bring an interesting new edge to the show for fans of both artists,” said Blair.
Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emma Stevens is a regular on the British airwaves with Radio 2 playlisting tracks from both her debut album ‘Enchanted’ and 2014’s ‘Waves’. Championed by the station’s figureheads, Terry Wogan and Chris Evans, Emma headlined the BBC Introducing stage at ‘Festival in a Day’ in Hyde Park and played the main stage at CarFest. Dubbed “the best of 2013” by iTunes, Emma has also charmed tastemakers and blogs – Louder Than War described her music as
“It’s pop, it’s folk, it’s indie, it’s kitsch, it’s wonderful”. She has toured with the likes of The Kooks and Feeder, worked with a variety of artists including Kate Nash, Passenger and Jenn Bostic, and recently put herself to the test with a grueling 12 hour fundraising buskathon for Children In Need.
Looking forward to the tour Emma said “I’m thrilled to announce that I will be touring my latest album ‘Waves’ during April and May this year alongside the incredible Blair Dunlop. I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones, sharing stories and playing lots of music that comes from my heart and soul. See you there!”
