Friends of Chapel Sessions, Royal Victoria Country Park Netley Southampton

Chapel Sessions is a community led notforprofit profit occasional music series in the acoustically acclaimed Chapel at Royal Victoria Country Park Netley Southampton on the shores of Southampton Water. Hosts John and Sonja Davison aim to showcase a mix of internationally renowned musicians of wide ranging genres supported by local artists.

So far we have welcomed from New York Nell Bryden and Jenn Bostic from Nashville who played to full houses. We feel it’s important to involve local people and we have a long list of ideas and contacts for future Chapel Sessions. We have various volunteering opportunities for differing concerts including poster & Flier design, social networking about the events, web page design, ticket sales, flier delivering in Hamble and Netley, bar volunteers, raffle ticket sellers, second hand CD sales to raise funds for Chapel Sessions, hospitality, recycling at end of the evening ……..and the list is endless as we have differing challenges for each concert.
If you would like to get involved in any way whilst encouraging as many people to come and support Chapel Sessions as possible, we would be very grateful and can be contacted via twitter @chapel_sessions

Our next concerts are Wed 9/4 from Portland Oregon, Tony Furtado singer songwriter and slide guitar/banjo maestro Tix £11 from Hantsweb online shop

  1. Dear John and Sonja. I played Forest Folk on Monday and Peter Chegwyn was telling me about your Chapel Sessions. I am interested, I have played a lot of churches and castles in the last year. I sing with cello, guitar and piano, 2 solo albums, used to be in Oysterband.
    Thanks, Ray

    • Thanks for getting in touch Ray, good to hear from you. We are good friends with Peter Chegwyn and we trust his musical connections greatly. Sounds fascinating. Would love to hear some music. We have framed in our community led not-for-profit Chapel Sessions since May 2013 with a view to bringing headline acts supported by local upcoming musicians and take suggestions from our audience with pleasure. We initially thought we would do approx five per year but where is getting around and we are inundated with headline acts and local musicians asking to play which is great. So Will be doing more than five a year. We are completely unpaid and it’s run on a not-for-profit basis, tickets are sold through Hampshire county council online shop. It’s all a case of finding the right pairings and complimentary genres. As you live in Sweden it would be useful to have possible dates for UK tours to help with planning. Best wishes John & Sonja Davison jands@jandsdavison.plus.com
